On Saturday, February 4th, public defenders from across the United States met in Miami for the Summit on Public Defense, hosted by the American Bar Association. Elizabeth Clarke was invited to speak to the issue of the right to counsel at the station house, an area in which children in Illinois saw a recent victory. In a subsequent panel discussion, Cook County Public Defender – and JJI Board Member – Amy Campanelli discussed how defenders can fight structural racism.
